FMCSA Revokes Three ELD Devices: What Motor Carriers Need to Know

FMCSA Revokes Three ELD Devices

On September 4, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the removal of three electronic logging devices (ELDs) from its list of registered, compliant systems: TT ELD PT30, ELOG42, and RENAISSANCE ELD. These devices were revoked after failing to meet the minimum requirements outlined in federal regulation 49 CFR Part 395.

What Carriers Need to Know

Motor carriers currently using these devices have 60 days until November 3, 2025, to replace them with a compliant, FMCSA-registered ELD. During the transition period, drivers are instructed to:

  • Stop using the revoked devices immediately.
  • Revert to paper logs or logging software as a temporary measure.
  • Install and begin using an approved ELD before the compliance deadline.

After November 3, 2025, any carrier still operating with one of these revoked devices will be considered non-compliant and subject to citations, fines, and out-of-service orders.

Why This Matters

Electronic logging devices are a cornerstone of Hours of Service (HOS) compliance. A revoked ELD not only creates operational disruptions but also exposes carriers to serious compliance risk. Beyond fines, a failed roadside inspection can harm your company’s safety record, impact CSA scores, and potentially lead to customer trust issues.

At DIR Transportation, we know that risk management begins with strict regulatory compliance. As specialists in Packaged HAZMAT and temperature-controlled freight, we understand that even minor compliance lapses can have major consequences.

That’s why we prioritize:

  • DOT/EPA-compliant operations across all lanes.
  • Employee-owned accountability, ensuring every team member is invested in safe and compliant performance.
  • Real-time visibility and communication, so clients always know their cargo is being handled to the highest standards.

When you partner with DIR, you don’t just get a carrier, you get a compliance-driven logistics partner who ensures your shipments, your reputation, and your business are protected.

Next Steps for Carriers and Shippers

If your fleet, or your current provider, is using one of the revoked devices, act now:

  1. Verify whether your ELD model is on the FMCSA Revoked Devices list.
  2. Transition to an approved device before the November deadline.
  3. Ensure your logistics partners maintain full compliance to avoid disruptions.

FMCSA’s decision to revoke non-compliant ELDs is a clear reminder that safety and compliance are the foundation of successful logistics. With November 3, 2025, deadline approaching, carriers and shippers must act quickly to avoid penalties and protect supply chain integrity.

At DIR Transportation, compliance is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s HAZMAT, temperature-controlled shipments, or standard freight, we deliver it right, every time.
